Urban nuisances, neighbourhood conflicts, degradation of the natural environment, loss of agricultural resources, sanitary issues, the malaise affecting displaced populations, decrease in biodiversity… Past failures point to the need for processes including : an initial assessment process, real-time assessment and corrections of actions and a genuine feedback. Thus assessment anticipates, helps process and follow up the actions that are implemented ; when it comes to matters of health and natural and human environment, it is called environmental assessment. This assessment process combines natural, technical and human factors ; it prepares for and makes possible decision-making by an individual or a group. Since it aims at optimization, it leads to concrete action. The person in charge of environmental assessment foresees possible actions and therefore becomes a project manager. This is where the ambition of the Juturna specialized Master’s degree course really lies : to have a multi-disciplinary approach to offer new solutions, broaden the usual framework of thought, look at environmental matters as part of other issues in our societies.
